Maid of Honour Speech – Tips
As maid of honour is usually the brides best friend, you need to make the speech memorable. Begin early. Start writing the speech as soon as you can and practice it often so you become familiar with public speaking. Try it out on family and friends to gauge their reactions and see if anything needs to be changed. The speech should be short but sweet and can include movies or songs that remind you of the bride and groom. Ideally around 5 minutes long is good for a speech. The last thing you want to do is bore your audience with a long speech. Introduce yourself at the beginning. Relate any funny stories or anecdotes that involve the bride and groom Mention how gorgeous the bride is and how much she means to you. Never include inside jokes that won’t be understood, and especially don’t mention any ex-boyfriends. Mention the groom, even if you don’t know him well. You can say how happy he makes the bride. As you’re ending your speech mention the couple. Use any cute pics you may have or relay any lovely stories of them as a couple. End your speech with a toast to the […]

Decorating the Car for the Married Couple
Decorating the wedding “getaway” vehicle is quite easy. The decorating of the wedding vehicle is usually left in the capable hands of the bridal party, being the groomsmen and bridesmaids. The wedding car can be decorated in colours to suit the theme of the wedding or whatever the couple would like (you hope). Keep in mind there will be quite a lot of photographs of the getaway vehicle so it does want to look good. Hire car or a family member or friends vehicle, there is no difference. Some things to remember when decorating a vehicle: Make sure you have permission from the owner or hire company prior to decorating Ensure you only use objects or materials which will not damage the paintwork or any part of the vehicle Where to decorate: Bumpers Side Mirrors, but ensure vision is not restricted Bonnet Back shelf of the car The boot On the inside of the vehicle usually the back shelf is decorated with tulle, ribbon and flowers. What to decorate with (again only limited by your imagination): If wanting to write a slogan on the windows use a bar of soap, shaving cream or even window cling film which will not […]
Choosing A Wedding Dress
Know what you want before you go shopping. Have your research done and some photos of gowns you like so you can go into the bridal shop armed with knowledge. Don’t be scared to walk away if you aren’t entirely comfortable with the fitters. Some can be very “Pushy”. Your wedding theme will play a big part in your wedding dress style. A 1920s style dress is completely different to a dress for a beach theme wedding. Finding the perfect dress can influence some brides with their wedding theme also. You may fall in love with the dress of your dreams and build your wedding around it. Experienced fitters can suggest styles that flatter your body shape and will listen to your wants. Vertical lines elongate your body and horizontal lines widen it. Larger busted brides require v – neck for a flattering look. Empire line shape dresses with lengthen short legs Short waists can be compensated by wearing a dropped waist gown. Gathered material and detail at the bust is great to flatter chests. You don’t want a dress that’s too revealing as later in life you want to look back on your wedding photos with pride. Make sure […]

Choosing your Reception Venue
Start early is the cardinal rule with reception planning. Avoid making rushed decisions, so your reception is all you want it to be. Here are some helpful things to check when enquiring about venues. Is an outside caterer allowed or is the venue catering mandatory? Are table linens supplied along with cutlery, glasses or can you have your own delivered and used? The cost of tables, chairs, glasses and are they supplied or can you use your own? Is bar service available? What is the cost? Sound system. Is one available or do you need to arrange? Seating capacity. Do you need a ballroom or small function room? Are they available on your wedding date? Are parking facilities available. Handicap parking for elderly or infirm? Is there a damage deposit and if so how much and what does it cover? How soon can the decorating begin? Is the use of kitchen facilities included? What choices of serving ware is available and is it china? Are any decorations prohibited? When would the decorations need to be removed? Who does the cleanup and at what cost?
