My name is Nathaniel Ola-Roberts and I was born and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone. I grew up learning, understanding, and respecting the different cultures of the different tribes in the country.
I have been fortunate to live and attend weddings in Sierra Leone, England, Fiji, and Australia. I have observed and noted with keen interest the differences in culture, which reflects how weddings and other life ceremonies are planned and performed by different people. I have been married now for over 35 years, and live in Sydney South West with my wife. We have two boys – the older one living in NSW and the younger one living in the ACT. I have been involved in the planning as well as playing a leading role in Baby Naming, Engagement, and Wedding ceremonies for friends and family members from different cultural backgrounds for quite a while now.
I watch most of the reality television shows where marriage celebrants are involved, and all of this put together has been part of my decision to enroll in the Certificate IV in Celebrancy course when I retired in November 2020 from my position as Customer Service Co-ordinator at Blacktown City Library Services.
With the application of what I have learned in the celebrancy course together with my life experience, I am in a very strong position to work with couples and plan a wedding that is very fitting to their own personal self. My customer service experience combined with my cultural wedding experience will play a very important part in the ideas and suggestions I will put forward to make the ceremony day a very memorable one for the couple, as well as their families and friends.
